About the Artist
Jill Zylke is a Chicago-based visual artist specializing in oil and watercolor paintings that capture figures, natural landscapes, and urban scenes. Her work transforms everyday moments into captivating visual narratives, encouraging reflection on cultural disciplines and their social and psychological impact. Education & Artistic Involvement
Jill earned her degree from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, majoring in Illustration. She has served on the Board of Directors at the Palette and Chisel Academy, as vice president of Windy City Arts, and is an active member of the Plein Air Painters of Chicago and the Chicago Alliance for Visual Art.
Artist’s Journey
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jill moved to Glenview at a young age, growing up in a home filled with art and literature. Her early exposure to masterpieces in books and visits to the Art Institute of Chicago sparked her lifelong passion for painting. Inspired by artists like Sargent, Hopper, Van Gogh, Fechin, and O’Keefe, she developed a deep love for plein air painting, both locally and internationally.
Despite a career in graphic design, Jill has remained dedicated to her artistry, continuously exploring new techniques and collaborating with fellow artists in the Chicago community.
