Looking for a teacher who enjoys working with children ages K-12th grades in a digital/art setting. Classes range on Mondays - Thursdays from 3:45-7pm available. Also by, creating a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures, we need interested applicants to provide direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes. Jump right in and start saving lives today! If you love to be in and around water this is the job for you.

Opening shifts are 5am-8am. Additional hours/shifts available from 5:00am-10:00pm on weekdays and 6:00am-5:00pm on weekends. If you are looking for 3hrs to 30hrs, we have positions available.

Pay rates range from $11-$18/hour.

Experience is preferred and trainings are provided. Red Cross Lifeguard certification is preferred.

Special Needs Swim Instructor

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes for swimmers with special needs.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Instructs Special Olympic swim lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  • Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.
  • Trains and supervises class aides as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards and at least 16 years of age. Experience with special needs is a must.

Water Fitness Instructor

POSITION SUMMARY:

Instructs group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • 1. Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
  • 2. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  • 3. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
  • 4. Keeps accurate class attendance records.
  • 5. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

Qualifications:

  • 1. Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED, national certification such as AEA (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in aquatic group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification.
  • 2. Certification in areas of expertise.
  • 3. At least one year of experience teaching aquatic group wellness classes preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • 1. Ability to conduct classes and activities.
  • 2. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position while in swim attire; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
