Who We Are at the North Suburban

Can Never Thank the Y Enough

Last summer my kids enjoyed Y summer camps with a scholarship that made it affordable. I could never thank the YMCA enough for helping me and my children. . .

Truly a Family Place

My greatest thrill now is to have my former students’ children enroll in my classes. The Y is truly a family place for me and I treasure my time working here. . .

Makes Me Feel Alive

Being here makes me feel so alive (I can breathe!) and helps me keep my head screwed on straight. Every morning when I hit the pool, I take a few minutes to clear the clutter in my brain and find my rhythm. . .

More Than a Place to Workout

The Y is much more than a place to work out for me. It is a gathering place for some of my dearest friends and a place where I can get the support to accomplish some of my goals in life. . .

Athletic Challenge, Personal Satisfaction

I love to help people, and when I can bring a smile to someone’s face or have a positive impact on someone’s life, well, there aren’t many things better than that.. . .

Healthy Kids Day at the NSY

We would like to thank you/commend you for such a wonderful family-oriented event. As parents we were thrilled to have our kids exposed to such positive messages in a fun forum. . .

Every Family Should Join the Y

When I joined the dance staff with my baby girl in tow, the support, friendships and activities I discovered for myself, my husband and our daughter were overwhelming!.. . .

It's "OUR" Y

The Y makes me feel like I belong. What other community facility caters to the young, the old, the fit, the athlete, the want-to-be athlete, the injured, or the disabled. . .

Seeing Both Sides of Y Life

When I started teaching swim classes at the Y, I instantly fell in love with all the kids. There’s a family atmosphere that surrounds you. When talking to other parents at my kids’ school, I always recommend the Y because of our Y family spirit. . .

Always There For Me

The Y has always been there for me in tough times, and provided a safe place for my children to grow and learn. It will always have a special place in my heart.. . .

YMCA "Rediscovery"

My family joined the Y in the early ‘70s. After having a family of my own, my wife and I looked into the Y’s programs for our kids’ activities. We were surprised to discover that the Y is a great place for all of us. . .

Continuing the Tradition

Some of my best childhood memories are at the North Suburban YMCA - now, my kids are making their own memories at the Y. . .

Being Part of the Y Family

I enjoyed camp so much that I wanted to stay at the YMCA and work with other programs. The YMCA is a great place. . .

Their "Second" Home

Knowing your children are being cared for by an educated, experienced and loving staff and that your children are safe and having a terrific time at the YMCA is the greatest feeling in the world. . .

An Inspiration to All

At 102 years of age, Max is an inspiration to all of us at the Y. Five days a week, Max drives from his home in Niles to the Y for a work out. . .

Staff With Experience and Compassion

The Y staff worked with my daughter and me, enabling her to not only get over her anxiety but gain social skills that have helped her develop into the well-rounded child she is today... . .

Memorable Part of My Childhood

My family moved to Chicago from Greece in 1953 when I was about 4. They sacrificed to send me to Y camp when I was in first or second grade. I had never been to camp, so this was an amazing experience. . .
