Strengthening Communities
Are you, your organization or corporation interested in:
- Working with others for community change
- Working toward a common goal to benefit others
- Filling gaps in services within your community
- Feeling good about helping others
If you answer is YES to any of these questions, the YMCA needs you. There are many ways that you can get involved with the YMCA and your community:
As a Sponsor:
An individual or group that seeks a mutually beneficial relationship of cash or in-kind services or goods made for a program or special event. This exchange of goods or services often eliminates the charitable quality or philanthropic nature of the contribution, but allows the sponsor to use marketing or operational dollars to further their business purpose while at the same time benefiting the YMCA. Examples include: underwriting our Annual Strong Kids Dinner which will provide scholarships to YMCA members in need; any special event, or equipment/uniforms for youth sports programs, etc.
As a Donor:
An individual, corporation, foundation or group that voluntary gives money or property to further the mission and work of the YMCA without expectation of personal or business financial gain. Examples: donations for afterschool programs, youth sports programs, etc.
Forming a Partnership with the YMCA:
A relationship that exists between 2 or more organizations with a clearly defined objective. Each organization retains their unique mission and identity and contributes and manages their own resources. Examples include partners whose organizations provide an enrichment component.
Forming a Collaborative with the YMCA
and other Community Organizations:
A mutually beneficial and well defined relationship entered into with multiple partner organizations to achieve results in which they are more likely to achieve together than alone. A more connected way of work in which organizations deepen their relationship and commit to a shared mission and often have a written formal Memorandum of Understanding. Examples are groups coming together to provide for the Hurricane Evacuees; joint group to immunize children before school begins, etc.
