A Primer on Dementia - Continuum of Care for Memory Loss

Cecelia Thomas Isenman, MBA, LNHA, CDP, will demystify the levels of health care which will be required for folks with memory loss. She will focus on how to identify the types of care required at various stages, the kinds of support which exist, and when and where to find them.

Care-giving statistics that might surprise you:

  • In 2011, 43.5 million adult family caregivers were taking care of someone 50+ and 1/3 of these were caring for someone with dementia.
  • 55% of caregivers report providing care for 3+ years.
  • There are now 7 potential family caregivers for every person over 80; it is expected to fall to 4 by 2030.
